In summer, Béarn takes on a festive note: "bandas" local music, bull running, village dances, concerts, musical festivals. From sunrise to sunset, there are hundred new things to do, sites to visit and landscapes to admire.

Autumn is the time for grape harvesting and ever more often Indian summers. It's a time for picking chestnuts and eating them with a drop of Bourret, the first of the pressed grapes.

Winter is also the time for salting down cold meats and other local specialities. And as a daily focal point, the snow-covered Pyrénées and their ski runs a short drive away.

In the spring, it's all dewy mornings, peaches coming into flower, the vines starting to wake, mist in the valleys and the Pyrenees as backdrop. It's an ideal time to walk with cool mornings and sunny afternoons.

Viewpoints for the Pyrénées

These amazing Pyrénées. You never tire of them! Whether green or covered in snow standing out against a clear sky or emerging from the mists, they emphasize our region of vineyards throughout the seasons. No need to be sporty, the walks are aimed at families as well as seasoned hikers with the Pyrénées as background !

The béarnaise garbure

This traditional dish is a soup made with vegetables and meats. Cooked with simple and very good quality products, the garbure incarnates conviviality. Cabbage, duck and haricots-maïs are the main ingredients.

The "cochonnaille"

In Béarn, winter is the traditional time for the "cochonnaille"! It's time to make canned food for the year to come : pâtés, blood sausages, sausages... In the pig, every part is the best part! Enjoy it by the fireplace with your family or at the restaurant...

Enfourchez votre vélo sur nos itinéraires balisés ou sur la véloroute V81 qui emprunte la voie verte le long du Gave de Pau et vous emmène ensuite à travers les villages typiquement béarnais.

In Summer, daily guided tours in Cœur de Béarnwill make you discover Orthez, the Commanderie of Lacommande, the village of Lucq-de-Béarn, the church of St Girons in Monein, the Chapel of Caubin in Arthez-de-Béarn. There are also the themed guided tours of Orthez with the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire.

The beach in the countryside

The Orthez-Biron Leisure Centre is to be found in a truly wonderful environment, on 100 ha of countryside, around a lake of 40 ha bordered by a sandy beach. You'll love the playground for children and the Aquazone!
