18 peachy producers!

The Roussanne peach is a very ancient fruit, cultivated in the Jurançon vineyards since the 16th century.
The fruit’s fragile nature and the changing weather nearly caused it to disappear.

In 2004, thanks to the perseverance of Marie-José Casaubon, a producer from Cuqueron, several enthusiastic producers came together to form a cooperative,« Les Vergers du Pays de Monein », in an effort to revive the production of the Roussanne and obtain the Label Rouge, a sign of quality assurance in France.
Today, 18 producers work orchards spanning across 37 acres in Monein and its surroundings. These producers are dedicated to respecting the proper cultivation methods detailed by the Label Rouge referential : respect for the environment and optimisation of the peach’s organoleptic qualities.

The cooperative is open to public from July to August. You will find freshly picked peaches from the orchards, sold by the tray.

Peach nectar, peach sirup, peach halves, peach compote, fruit jellies, candy… the Roussanne peach can be enjoyed all year round in all shapes and sizes !

You will find these products at the Vergers du Pays cooperative in Monein during the summer months and all year round at the Tourism Office.
