The museum has been installed in the House of Jeanne d'Albret who stayed there when in Orthez.
You'll love !
- Jeanne's house
- a recreation of the church
- the French garden
On the road frontage, stop to look at some beautiful mullioned windows.
In the (French) garden you can still see the stages of construction of the house and the well and the pigeon loft, the prerogative of all noble houses.
In the octagonal tower connecting the two wings of the house there is a superb spiral stairway in dressed stone welcoming you to your visit.
Jeanne and her famous children
Welcome to the life of a famous protestant: Jeanne d’Albret. The museum shows the amazing journey of the Huguenots from the start of the Reformation (16th century) to the start of the 20th century. The museum also presents Jeanne's famous children: Catherine de Bourbon and Henri IV.
