Several centuries at a glance

- the porch bell tower
- the traditional houses in the village
Lucq-de-Béarn is a typically Béarn village, with its traditional houses featuring numerous genoises, hipped roofs and slate or picon tiles.
Not far from the central square and its fountain, the Romanesque-Gothic church of Saint-Vincent bears witness to several centuries of history (12th to 16th centuries). The bell tower with its basket-handle door and the 16th-century portal are the perfect place to enter the church.
A sarcophagus
As you push open the door, a pleasant surprise awaits you: a sarcophagus dating back to the 5th century. Made of white marble and entirely sculpted, it was discovered under the church paving in the 19th century and is now used as an altar. Carved capitals from the 12th century stand alongside altarpieces, pictures and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Sound and light
Saint-Vincent church comes back to life with a sound and light show retracing its history and presenting its rich furnishings. Nearby, the remains and tower of a former abbey give an idea of the scale of the original buildin.
A wonderful discovery !
