Le Moulin de Candau

In Castétis, near Orthez, the Moulin de Candau is a 16th century water mill.

As the communal mill of Château de Candau, it stood the test of time, crushing wheat for the local population until 1958. Today, 50 years later, it has been completely restored and is once again grinding wheat. A micro hydroelectric power station has been integrated to provide clean energy for the mill.

You can also visit a museum of old mill tools. A hydraulic beating sawmill is currently being restored. The mill is helping to protect the river's biodiversity by maintaining it.
